Working with musicians spins the cogs in our brains in a way that merges unrestricted creativity with the need to convey the complex mechanisms of emotions found in lyrics and sounds. It was no different when designing the artwork for Zar Paulo’s debut album “Elendig Software” where we were invited to fully submerge ourselves into the band’s tangled universe and bleak meanderings through the blueprints of Aarhus Hospital, where the album was recorded.

What you’ll encounter on that sensory journey is an analogue vision that incorporates digital references, layered cyber conundrums, ignorant 90s IT malfunctionings and distorted symbols representing each of the songs’ unique messaging.

Gatefold with printed PVC tunnel sleeve and uv varnish details. Includes a code generated portrait of the band on the inside of the gatefold. A 26 page booklet with art and lyrics, a silver sleeve and a signature blue vinyl.

By pixelating, glitching, replicating, skewing, modifying, liquifying and coding art and images, we’ve created an abstract, alternative addition to what’s typically read, but not experienced. Together with the band, we wanted to synthesize text, sound and vision into a palpable exploration of Zar Paulo’s charismatic debut. It was an adventure that left an inspiring imprint on us and turned us into number one fans in the process - and we hope it will take you there too.
