The expansion of Terminal 3 at Copenhagen Airport brought a wave of new shops and restaurants into the airport's shopping centre. Before any of them could open, they had to build their units in a workplace that never closes, with passengers just on the other side of the construction site wall.
Building at an airport comes with rules that apply to everyone, without exception. Every project has to be approved by several departments against the airport's design manuals, a review that takes at least four weeks. An incomplete submission gets sent back, and without the right documentation, the unit doesn't open. For tenants, that meant a lot to absorb. For Copenhagen Airport, it meant answering the same questions again and again, and reviewing the same projects more than once.
We developed a series of animated explainer videos that guide tenants through the whole construction journey, from lease appendices and ID cards to logistics, documentation, sustainability, safety on site and project review. The voiceover explains each process step by step, while details that change over time, like contact information and requirements, live only as on-screen text, so the airport can update the films without producing them again. A shared graphic language, with recurring timelines, banners and airport motifs, ties the series together into one onboarding flow.
The result is a tool that does the explaining for the airport. Tenants start better prepared, fewer projects come back for revision, and Copenhagen Airport's teams get time back for the work that matters.
