Evolve, not erase – With Koda (Composers' Rights in Denmark), we set out to evolve their visual identity—respecting the roots of where they stood, keeping their heartbeat strong, and designing a future that felt like a natural next step.
For almost a century, Koda has worked to ensure fair compensation for composers, songwriters, and music publishers in Denmark while striving for a more sustainable and resilient music industry—socially, economically, and environmentally.
The challenge was to modernize the brand while staying true to its legacy and forward strategy. Rather than a full rebrand, we built a living design system that bridges past, present, and future.
At its core sits the iconic black square—simplified and refined, with subtle references to a speech bubble, a nod to open dialogue, representation, and the many voices Koda carries.
From this foundation, the identity’s defining feature unfolds: ‘klangfladerne.’ These dynamic shapes take center stage, creating a visual pulse across all touchpoints, mirroring the rhythm of music and the purpose Koda represents.
These shapes form the backbone of the system. Built in three layers, they reflect the foundation of Koda’s ecosystem: the creators, the users, and the listeners. A strict modular grid ensures consistency across platforms, while a bold, expressive color palette functions like musical chords—soft and harmonious or bold and dynamic, depending on the context.
The result is a flexible, future-ready system that carries Koda’s voice forward—with clarity, character, and a pulse that never misses a beat.
